Welcome To PuppetKru Horley

Welcome to the new PuppetKru Website!

MISSION STATEMENT: We believe in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  We use our God given gifts to minister His word through puppets using stories and music.

PuppetKru Horley were formed in 2001 by Stuart Thorpe and Carol Black.  We are a Christian Puppet Ministry based at St. Bartholomew's Church in Horley, Surrey.  We use puppets as a tool to spread the word of God in a fun way with songs and scripts for people of all ages.  Our team perform regularly at most family services at St. Bart's Church (the first Sunday of every month, 10.30am).  PuppetKru have also been invited to other events, such as baptisms, community and outreach events, plus school events.  Our group has been expanding recently - we are blessed with a great team and through generous donations we now have large range of puppets, props, staging, music, scripts and electrical equipment enabling us to give a wide variety of performances.

We are currently training a small group of younger children (aged 7-11) and hope to expand on this in the coming months.  Our team meet regularly on a Tuesday evening for training, planning and rehearsals.

Please come back and visit this site in the coming months and feel free to contact us if you have any questions.  Here are details of some of our more recent events:

JULY 2010: Pevfest 2010, Baptist Church, Pevensey Bay.  PuppetKru were invited to perform at Pevfest 2010 in Pevensey Bay, alongside Tim Hill and his magic show.  Here are some comments from Terry and Barbara Page at Pevensey Bay Baptist Church.... "Please pass on our thanks to all the PuppetKru who helped to make 'Pevfest' a really fantastic day.  The Pevfest Committee (who apart from myself are not associated with the church) were very impressed and have asked if you can come back next year - pencil in 23rd July 2011.  As for the fellowship they were just bowled over and thought the whole thing was superb and successfully attracted many people to the church.  Needless to say, they too would like you back again next year.  I think the combination of the PuppetKru and Tim's Magic (and ministry) went down extremely well.  Personally, I was just thrilled that the whole day was a real spur to the church to be more active and engage with the community.  So many in the fellowship are now talking about opening the church regularly on a Saturday for coffee, tea and perhaps just doing anything fairly informal to attract people in.  The Church is now very prayerful that the seed will have been sown in the lives of many who heard the gospel proclaimed in a relevant and non-threatening way.  Thank you all againf or a fantastic day."

APRIL 2010: The Chamber of Commerce invited us to join the St. George's Day Festival on 24th April 2010 in Horley Town Centre.  We were blessed with good weather and a very busy town!  The town centre was full of a wide variety of stalls and was also attended by St. John's Ambulance who were offering 30 minute Emergency First Aid Training.  Between puppet shows the PuppetKru attended one of these training sessions along with Henry Bear who "offered" to be a patient.  PuppetKru performed three shows with a wide variety of music.  The younger audience particularly enjoyed the puppet animals and the fun stickers they took away with them.  There was an opportunity for audience participation, but mainly an opportunity to listen to God's word through our unique version of worship songs.  Watch this space for photographs of this eventful day!

JULY 2009: In July 2009 we enjoyed performing a show based on The Creation at Holy Trinity Church in Redhill and here are some comments our Vicar at St. Bart's received following this event:

"Dear Steve, The PuppetKru came to Holy Trinity today and were excellent!  We really enjoyed their visit.  As you suggested I got them all out front to receive applause.  They really are becoming very professional!  In all, a great visit - lots of hard work by all concerned - please do pass on my thanks again to them.  Blessings"

Reverend Caroline Glass, Holy Trinity Church, Redhill, 18th July 2009
